Welcome! I am a freelance writer and historian living in the Northwest. I grew up in the heartland of Bavaria, where I learned to ski, speak German, and drink beer. Now, after the briefest of stopovers in Los Angeles, I’ve made Portland, Oregon my adopted home. Last year, I graduated from Portland State with a degree in History (my thesis focused on problems in the philosophy of history and the Crusades).
As a graduate student, I was editor of our student-run history magazine, The Ranke (named after the nineteenth-century father of professional history), and an editorial fellow at the Pacific Historical Review, where I learned the value of the correct citation. Since then, I’ve published numerous articles in Portland Monthly and Travel Portland, with several more on the way.
I’m always eager to get to know new people, so please do drop me a line.
